Hanna Quevedo is a professional photographer, photo editor and photography teacher with 22 years of experience in the field. Currently based in between Mexico City and Oaxaca, holds a Mexican work visa, Spanish passport and American passport.

She was living in San Francisco, CA. from 2008 to 2016 and has been living in Mexico City since 2016 to the present day, where she works as a teacher and freelance, and she was part of the Seminary of Contemporary Photography at Centro de la Imagen 2019-2020, one of the most important contemporary photography centers in Latin America.

In all this years her work was published in several publications in Spain, USA and Mexico -VICE USA and Mexico, San Francisco Weekly (SF), Black Book Magazine (NY), 7x7 (SF), I am 100 (NY), El Mundo (Spain), El Pais (Mexico), The Bold Italic (SF), The New York Times (NY), Remezcla (NY), etc-.

She also worked as a teacher at the Research Center in Studies of the Woman -CIEM- (Costa Rica), University of Communication in San Salvador (El Salvador), Radio Izcanal in Nueva Granada (El Salvador), Apertura Photography School in Malaga (Spain), Youth Media Camp in Kassel (Germany), FARO de Aragon (Mexico City), etc.; and her work was selected and shown in international photography festivals and museums such as Photo NOLA in New Orleans (USA), Descubrimientos PhotoEspaña (Madrid), and Contemporary Jewish Museum (San Francisco), UC Berkeley, among over 50 others galleries and underground spaces all over the world.

Her first photo-book "Dessert First!" got published by Burn Barrel Press (New Orleans, LA.) and Inframundo (Mexico) and grabbed the attention of many art magazines like the Aperture Photo Book Review, PRINT magazine, Creative Boom, ART DOC, 35mmc and Elephant among others.

Hanna is a hard worker, goal oriented, extremely creative and focused person. Today, she is studying the master program "International Cultural Management and Social Innovation" from Complutense University of Madrid while she is starting a collective DIY and self-organize social and cultural project in the Oaxaca Coast -call “BACUÁ”- and that seeks to promote experimental arts -focusing on visuals, sound and words- in the community and on an international level.

“The photographs of Hanna Quevedo are magnetic. In equal parts they are intriguing, evocative, emotionally connecting and ultimately thoroughly engaging. Hanna sees the world she inhabits as a keen observer. Her ability to move through externals to the heart of her subject is strong and direct. It is through her distinct observations that she uncovers the unusual amidst the ordinary. Her sensitivity to her surroundings, both physical and personal are evident in the way in which she sees. Observation and engagement coexist in all of Hanna’s photographs, and all contain compelling visual insights to her subjects.” Danielle Wohl -art advisor. Palo Alto, CA.

“Hanna Quevedo’s analog photography invites us behind the eyes of a patient and confident visual anthropologist. Her photographs are recordings of her mindful studies in the art of human culture. Chasing with her lens the evolution of the human condition, she captures etchings of passing time, exchanges and feelings otherwise lost in the continuum of our consciousness as if to remind us of our intrinsic connection to each. The spontaneous subtle, half second moments in the faces of people and the environments her heart intuitively akin illuminate her prints. Her commitment to wandering the underground backstreets of the world’s working class, following steadfast with hopeful curiosity, she compassionately bleeds the lines between great photojournalism and the art of a strong woman finding her place in the world.”
